Cage-free Egg Policy
Corval Group and its related entities (together, the ‘Company’ or ‘Corval Group’) recognises and strongly believes that animal welfare is an important issue and that we are responsible to take an influential role in affecting positive change via cooperation with our supply partners. As a company, we value the importance of environment, sustainability and animal welfare. In the case of cage-free eggs, we are firmly in support of ending the use of cage-eggs in the food industry.
In accordance with Conga Foods ‘Cage-free Egg Commitment’ dated 13 February 2020, the Company has successfully transitioned all own brands and our supply partners, for products in which egg is an ingredient, to the exclusive use of cage-free eggs.
We observe that a small number of our suppliers’ specialty cheese products contain tiny amounts of lysozyme, a naturally-occurring protein found in hen egg whites that serve as a natural preservative. We remain in close collaboration with our suppliers to also transition these products as a priority and affect changes needed in the global egg supply chain.
In line with our ethical sourcing practices, we work in collaboration with our supply chain partners to ensure accreditation and full compliance in the sourcing and formulation of products. The welfare of egg-laying hens forms part of our supplier audits, review and approvals program and we continually monitor and ethically source, ingredients using best industry practices.
